Key Highlights:
Located at 400 Q Street in Sacramento, California, the CalPERS Headquarters Complex is a mixed-use development spanning approximately 1,100,000 square feet. The complex comprises 550,000 square feet of commercial office space, 25,000 square feet of retail space, and 180,000 square feet dedicated to housing. The site occupies two contiguous city blocks and includes below-grade parking for 1,000 vehicles. Designed to integrate with Sacramento's urban fabric, the complex features a central courtyard and a multi-story glass atrium, providing natural light and communal spaces for employees and visitors.
The building operations team was interested in determining a path to decarbonize the buildings. Zero Envy worked on the Lincoln Plaza North building. This work started with an ASHRAE Level II Energy Audit, a deep dive into the Building Management System (BMS) with the operations team, and then a “digital twin” calibrated energy model to evaluate energy conservation and electrification strategies. Our team helped chart a path to eliminating on-site fossil fuel combustion, improving electricity efficiency and then procuring carbon offsets by the client’s target date.
